Cricket- Weather has already created a fixture backlog
Following the weekend's wash-out in the Jolly's Drinks Cornwall Cricket league, a fixture backlog is again mounting. In County Division One, of the nine match days to date, four have been virtually completely wiped out. Included is the postponement of games due to Cornwall's trip to Cumbria though all but one of these has now been played.
Of the 54 County One games that should have been completed, a total of 25 (almost 50%) have been called off, with two of these also called off on a second occasion. Apart from Penzance, all County One sides have at least three games to make up with St Buryan still having five outstanding despite having already caught up one. An added problem for fixture secretaries is that the County Club are playing on nine Sundays during the season on which leading players are likely to be unavailable.
It is a similar story in County Division Two with 22 of the 54 games to date having been called off, only four of which have been replayed to date. All sides have at least three games still outstanding.
