Cricket- Hawkey cup- Callington power into to the semi finals
Callington v Fowey
Batting first, Fowey lost two early wickets in the light drizzle masquerading as a June evening. Callington's John Sylvester proved the main problem to the visiting batsmen, clean bowling four of the first 51 with Rogers being run out following some good work by Lee Pascoe.
Captain Mickey Meares tried to get the visiting ship afloat and he made 16, assisted by Mark Bennetts who contributed 17 before he too was run out.
Simon Fitze mopped up the tail to claim 3-17 but Sylvester's figures of 4 for five runs was match winning stuff.
The target of 77 to win looked easy as Andy Hocking helped himself to 15 runs off Meares first over, and after he was out for 23, Sylvester knocked out a quick 20 off 14 balls to set up victory.
After Pascoe had the dubious honour of running out his captain he and Fitze steered Callington home to victory in the 12th over.
Chris Taylor bowled well for Fowey, taking 1-20 and Andy Bennetts conceded just 10 runs from his three overs. Callington now face the winners of Grampound Road and St Austell in the semis
