Luckett v Callington
Upon winning the toss, Luckett put their opponents into bat, but this ploy appeared to have back-fired on Luckett as Callington soon notched up 84 runs in just 21 overs. However in the 23rd over two wickets fell, the first saw A Shorten dismissed for a respectable 54, including nine fours, while Trevor Collins (26) followed soon after.
Callington then began to lose wickets at regular intervals, with only Vic Voyzey (32), Simon Fitze (16) and John Nicholls (14 not out) able to get into double figures. They finished on 182-9, but Luckett paid a heavy price keeping Callington limited to this score, as they lost two players, both going to hospital. Neither Dave Brown (badly-pulled shoulder) and Chris Bowden (broken finger) will play cricket again this season.
John Schutkacker took 1-49, Chris Bowden 0-26, Adrian Warne managed 3-52, Adrian Berry 3-47 and Matt Perry did well to take two wickets for the loss of just three runs.
Luckett began their reply and soon found themselves in deep trouble, with two wickets having fallen for just 15 runs. This could effectively be viewed as 15-4, as Luckett had two players unable to bat. However, Paul Sidey joined David West at the crease and the pair put on 72 before West was bowled for 55, his innings including eight fours and two sixes.
Adrian Warne was next up, and he and Sidey put on an extra 80 runs before Sidey was bowled for 57 with nine fours in his innings. With just a few runs required, Paul Lowden joined Warne and the pair knocked off the runs for the lost of four wickets - Warne finishing on 50 not out which included nine fours and a six.
