Saltash v Torpoint
Torpoint's visit to Saltash proved to be a magical mystery tour for some members as they looked for the ground.
However, on a cloudy, rain-looming day, Torpoint batted first with opener C Davies settling in and straight batting his way to 37. S Lee fell for a duck. Tony Freestone, unable to settle, was caught behind for eight which suggested he plays better on sunny days! Enter the gladiators 'Nobby' Nobes and 'Beefy' Full.
Suddenly Nobby exploded and smashed his way to 134 not out. 'Beefy' supporting him and made an unbeaten 57.
Setting Saltash a mammoth 237 to win Torpoint got serious as Saltash had beaten previously undefeated Fowey the previous week. But Torpoint held their catches and aided by some good bowling from "Nails" and Radley they dismissed Saltash for 84. Saltash did not play to their full potential but were sporting throughout.
