Callington v Truro

Callington won the toss and elected to bat first, putting on 34 before Colin Kitt was caught behind for 15. Sylvester fell with the score on 48 but then Andy Snowdon and Hocking gave the crowd some excitement. Hocking made 40 and Snowdon looked his old classy self and put on 120 for the fourth wicket.

When Hocking was out Snowdon treated the home fans to a marvellous display, assisted by Lee Pascoe who made 27. Nobody could remove Snowdon who carried his bat for 138 off 151 balls, which included 18 fours and one six. Callington's large total of 255 for 6 made the tea taste even sweeter. Steve Pope was Truro's best bowler with 4-57.

If Truro were going to knock off the runs then they needed a flying start, but it was not to be Pluckrose and Snowdon combined to dismiss Morris and then then important wicket of the inform (270 last week) Pope came Callington's way, thanks to a run out.

Tom Sharp followed soon after and Truro were in a mess. Ben Price made 25 and Mark Thomas 21 but by the time the visitors were well off the pace. Sylvester bowled another impressive 16 overs taking 5-32, and Pluckrose took 1-34 off his 16, and the game was won with Truro on 70-7. However Steve Gay with 40 n.o., Les Divine and Matt Stearn with 28 threw themselves into the plot to take Truro up to 161 and scrape another batting point.

This completes a rather unlikely double over Truro after Callington's victory at Boscawen Park a fortnight age and set things up well for the clash next day with Troon.
