Tintagel v Looe

Put into bat first, Tintagel were given a sound start, Steve Brown and Tony Parsons putting on 46 for the first wicket. Both openers then went within one run of each other, Brown for 22 and Parsons for 21. It was the introduction of Mike Pengelly and Robin Trethowan bowling in tandem which started and finished the home side's change of fortunes, for only K Thompson reached double figures. Pengelly finished with the superb figures of 6-23 from his 15 overs and Trethowan 4-12 from 13 overs.

As usual, the Looe openers of Jonathan and Peter Nance saw Looe on their way but the sea-siders had to get over the shock of Peter's dismissal for 19 runs. Jonathan continued his watchful brief and joined by Phil Shepley they took the score to 48 before Shepley went for 19. Robin Trethowan and J Nance then added another eight before Nance was caught for 15. Despite a couple of hiccups, skipper Trethowan with 29 not out saw his side safely to victory. Andy Billington bowled a great containing spell, conceding only 13 from 16 overs and taking two wickets while A Warren took 3-30.
