A variety of stalls selling art, cards, cakes, honey, gifts, jams, jewellery, oils, ornaments, spices and woodwork were at the 20th craft fair at Saltash Wesley Church on Saturday. The mayor and mayoress, Bob and Jackie Austin, attended and were met by Rotarian Colin Hooton. In a speech, the mayor said that the fair proceeds were for ShelterBox, which helps people in disaster areas all over the world. In the foyer, ShelterBox contents were displayed and the mayor said that since it's formation by Tom Henderson, from Helston, six years ago, ShelterBox had helped more than half a million people in at least 30 countries worldwide. In January 2001, the first 143 ShelterBoxes were sent to an earhquake disaster zone in Gujarat, India. Each box provides shelter and warmth for an extended family of up to ten people for a minimum of six months. Refreshments were served throughout the day and the fair raised £1100 for ShelterBox.
