A CHILD of three has been summoned for jury service twice in four months. Her Majesty's Court Service called toddler Blaine Walton to be a member of a jury in a trial at Truro Court this summer, despite his age making him ineligible. The letter arrived at Blaine's home in Liskeard only weeks after he had received a summons to be a juror at Bodmin Magistrates on Wednesday, April 18. Fine The family were told that they could face a fine of up to £1,000 if Blaine did not reply to the letter, did not attend the court without good reason or was not available to be juror when his name was called at Truro Crown Court by the jury officer. 'We were really surprised,' said his mother Alicia. 'I phoned up the court service the first time to tell them. 'It was a shock when the second letter came through. Blaine doesn't understand what it is about which makes it funnier.' A spokesman for Her Majesty's Court Service said that jury selection was done by randomly selecting names from the electoral register and this register should not contain anybody under the age of 18.
