THE Christmas celebrations in Torpoint will be especially romantic – as the lights will be switched on by two newlyweds who realised they were meant for each other at last year's event.
Heather Eaton and Peter Joll will marry tomorrow at Mount Edgcumbe House, with their reception held at the Harbour Lights in Torpoint.
Harbour Lights events and entertainments director Zoe Vigus contacted the couple to ask if they'd realised the roads would be closed on December 1.
'The town council made special arrangements for guests to be able to get into the venue,' said Heather. 'The next bit of news from Zoe was asking us if we would like to turn on the lights.'
Heather has eight grandchildren who she says are absolutely beside themselves with excitement about the wedding being part of the Christmas celebrations.
'A lot of people we know and our friends are really pleased, and it's nice to be able to join in with the community.'
Heather, 55, and Peter, 51, said that they made all the arrangements for their wedding locally, as they wanted to support businesses in the area.
