The Chairman of Cornwall Council, Cllr Mary May, has chosen to champion charities supporting people affected by drug or alcohol problems for the remainder of her term of office.
They include countywide charity Addaction, which has an office in Liskeard, which supports those with alcohol or drug issues and empowers people to make positive changes to take back control over their lives.
The charity will benefit from a variety of fundraising events supported by the Chairman over the next few months.
The Chairman is also supporting Bosence Farm Community which provides treatment in a tranquil environment for people to overcome their addiction and transform their lives. The farm, near Hayle, has a residential rehabilitation unit and a residential detoxification unit (the only one in Cornwall) and a highly specialised and bespoke service for young people. They plan to work with many other local organisations who have common aims, including Duchy College.
