Concern grows over

village vandalism

PERSISTENT vandalism in the moorland village of St Cleer has so concerned residents they are to hold a Neighbourhood Watch meeting which they hope will prompt a fight back against those who are making their lives a misery.

Police representatives are due to speak at the meeting, arranged for September 17, which all villagers are invited to attend.

Incidents have included a wall being pulled down, signs destroyed, smashed lights, destruction in the primary school's play area, and a Budweiser bottle thrown through a window of the church.

Gardens are also being trashed, and garden ornaments stolen, items in a specially planted school garden have been vandalised, wing mirrors broken off cars - and 'boy racers' are said to speed through the village, making handbrake turns.

Posters are to be placed in St Cleer urging all to attend the meeting, at 7pm in the Memorial Hall.
