The Prince at

the organic farm

PRINCE Charles was in Cornwall yesterday launching an Organic South West regional initiative during a visit to Penhale Farm, an organic Duchy farm near Bodmin.

The new regional office of Organic South West is based at Stoke Climsland's Duchy College, and is supported by the Duchy of Cornwall and Trinidos Bank. The Prince met the tenants of Penhale Farm, Tony and Joy Weaving, and other Duchy tenants. He also presented Duke of Cornwall Farm Habitat awards.

'Beast' appears

at Henwood

THE elusive 'Beast of Bodmin Moor' has put in another appearance, this time on some farmland between Henwood and Kingbeare, an area where there have been several such sightings in the past. Landowner Mr Brian Beale rang the Cornish Times on Monday afternoon soon after his close encounter with a cat-like creature just after 5pm.

He had been strimming some docks on the edge of a five acre field when he became aware he was being watched. He looked up to see a large animal, which he said was larger than a fox, standing still about 50 yards away. 'I could see his whiskers plainly so I knew it was definitely a cat but not of the domestic variety' he said. He described the creature as a dark off white colour with black and brown flecks around the shoulders and neck.

Wembley turf

is on offer

Football fans in South East Cornwall are being given the chance to own a piece of Wembley! The Football Association has pledged a square foot of Wembley Stadium's famous hallowed turf to Polperro Football Club, which in turn plans to auction it.

Once the last match has been played at England's most famous pitch the turf will be dug up and sections distributed to various clubs across the country to be used in fund raising events.
