Lifeboatman put in the picture

Six lifeboatmen from Fowey travelled to the Mall Galleries in London on Monday - as a picture of them with Fowey quayside in the background is part of a new exhibition of portraits.

The picture, by artist Jeff Stultiens, is nine and a half foot long and took almost six months to finish.

During that time he visited Fowey regularly, taking photographs, sketches and videos. Those attending, to represent the Fowey RNLI crew of 20, were Steve Barker, Bob Harris, Mike Cottrell, Ron Johnson, Dan Atkinson and Marcus Lewis.

The exhibition, entitled 'People's Portraits' will be open until January 21.

Plan for windgenerator in field

An application to erect a single wind generator at a site near Colliford reservoir was due to be raised at a Caradon meeting last night (Thursday).

The plan, by Mrs P McKeogh, was for a generator in a corner of a field adjoining Dewey Mead Farm, St Neot. The proposed rotor has three blades of 3.5 metres diameter, and the generator itself a height of 6.5 metres. The tower, which would be grey in colour, would provide alternative power to the applicant's property. The plan had been recommended for refusal.
