Site meeting for soccer pitch

A site meeting is to take place in Kelly Bray following the temporary use of a football pitch which has led to some opposition from residents.

The meeting is for the morning of October 18. Councillors, who heard officers had concerns about parking facilities, were told several people living adjacent to the field, at Wesley Close, opposed the use of the pitch.

A petition in favour of the pitch has also been received by Caradon, and councillor Russell Bartlett proposed an extension of 'protective' measures which could be put in place - and a trial until next May with regular monitoring.

They were due to be discussed by Caradon councillors late yesterday (Thursday). The £2 million proposals would involve disabled access to a development which would be open for use by school pupils attending courses, and by performers. Nine craft workshops would also be developed – with a sculpture park, and a cricket square and pavilion provided. The current car parking facilities would need to be extended. Director, Ewart Sturrock, said he felt the expansion would be of significant benefit to the community.
