A new beast!
A Golberdon man is the latest to report a sighting of a big cat-like creature. But it certainly wasn't the Beast of Bodmin Moor - because Mr Philip Jonas spotted it in Ivybridge, Devon.
Mr Jonas was working on a house in Moorhaven Village, Ivybridge, when he spotted the cat walking along a path in some fields some distance away. 'It was about the size of a labrador', he said. 'I saw it for about 15 seconds. It was just ambling away and I have no doubt it was a large cat'. Mr Jonas said the animal then walked into bushes and disappeared. His workmate was with him and also saw the beast. 'Now I'm going to take a camera with me every time I work on the site', he says.
River rescue
Two people were recovered from the River Fowey on Wednesday night, by the local Water Taxi.
The incident took place in Fowey just before 11pm, when the town was still packed following that evening's annual carnival procession. The Taxi landed the two at Albert Quay, and they were taken to hospital. St Austell coastguard, the police and the ambulance services were alerted to the incident.
Lifeboat alert
Fowey lifeboat was alerted on Wednesday after a member of the public reported a small dinghy adrift about two miles offshore between Dodman Point and Gorran Haven.
Mevagissey coastguard was also tasked, but the vessel was found not to be in difficulties and returned to harbour under its own power.
Window smashed
Carol and Company hairdressers in Fore Street, Liskeard became another victim of the town's escalating vandalism problem.
The main shop window was smashed between 9pm and 9am on Thursday morning, causing damage estimated at over £1,000.
