Callington started this cup tie the stronger, after only 30 seconds Nicholls had only the 'keeper to beat but he saved his shot well, as he did from Gregory minutes later. It wasn't until the 16th minute that Callington made the break through, a well timed pass from Nicholls set up Gerry whose right footed drive sailed in to the top corner. Callington were well on top of this game now and were awarded a free kick just outside the box.
Jury floated in a superb inswinging cross only for the home defender to head into his own net. On 23 minutes a long ball out of defence from Hunt, which was met by Taylor whose left footed shot beat the keeper with an ease. Callington were still creating good chances but failed to convert them, and it wasn't until on the stroke of halftime that Callington scored again. A nice through ball from Griffiths into Nicholls feet who turned and shot into the bottom corner, 4-0 at half-time.
Start of the second half Pelynt started brightly and scored almost straight away, Callington then had a mad 10 minutes and conceded again. Pelynt were now full of confidence and pushing players forward and played some nice footballs at times. Callington soon took control of the game again, but again squandered good chances.
