Gunnislake had the better of the opening 10 minutes but failed to built on a decent start, allowing the home side to finish the opening half having had the better of proceedings. However, in spite of the fact that Lanivet had shaded matters, the interval was reached with both sides having secured once. Paul Tomkins netted Gunnislake's goal when he ran onto an Andy Campbell through-ball to fire home an equaliser.

The visitors scored early in the second half, again through Tomkins. This led to the home side pushing men into attack and with a strong wind at their backs, Lanivet pressed Gunnislake back. On 70 minutes their pressure was rewarded, only for Gunnislake to regain the lead shortly afterwards when Lee Underwood ran onto another Campbell throughball to finish bravely.

Lanivet again came at their opponents and equalised on 82 minutes. With extra time looming, Mark Yeoman made an excellent run into the penalty area which ended with the midfielder being fouled. Underwood converted the penalty kick and soon afterwards the final whistle went, to the relief of a Gunnislake side who have now won five and drawn one of their opening six league and cup fixtures this season.
