I should be very grateful if any of your readers could help me with information on a number of Cornish poets, whose work has been selected for a forthcoming anthology of modern verse in Cornish. It would be particularly helpful if anyone could put me in touch with the poets' next of kin, but any dates, details of professions, achievements or background would be very useful indeed. Three poets in whom I am particularly interested are:

William Watson - Ran the Morrab Gardens at Penzance, where he is said to have discovered several new species of plant. He was one of the finest Cornish-speakers this century, an accomplished amateur actor, edited a dictionary, and wrote some memorable poems. I believe that he died in 1960, but have been unable to find out when he was born.

Violet Valerie Cook - Wrote some charming children's verse, spent a number of years living in Bristol, died some time after 1965.

Peggy Pollard - Remarkable poet, dramatist, embroidress, conservationist, author.... who lived in Truro.
