Once again Ashes frustrated their supporters in front of goal, failing to turn possession into what should have been a comfortable win. Ashes dominated the first half with the wind behind them, and Sticker's keeper Neil Hunkin played superbly to deny Steve Best, Greg Baldry and Darren Butcher. Butcher was then unlucky when a long range striker brushed the cross bar. The away sides first attempt on goal came in the 40th minute with Jeff Johnson fired wide of the upright from outside the box.
Ashes deservedly went in front just after the interval when Baldry and Steve Anbany cleverly interpassing down the left, with Anbany cutting inside to unleash a drive from outside the penalty area which left Hunkin with no chance to save. New signing Darren Butcher impressed for Ashes throughout crossing Stickers overworked defence many problems, and with Anbany, Dave Crocker and Ryan Swiggs controlling the centre of defence Ashes were good value for three points.
