Saltash took the game to second placed Camelford from the outset, forcing the away side to defend and soak up the pressure for long periods.

Lee Grogan had the best of opportunities for Ashes but his header was brilliantly turned around the upright by keeper Neale.

Dangerous on the break Camelford could have gone in front when a shot from well placed Cliff Willis struck an upright and was cleared.

Jason Marks proved a thorn to the Camels defence with fine runs from deep and was unlucky with a rasping drive which just cleared the crossbar shortly before half time.

The second half was evenly contested with Camelford showing why they are so hard to beat with a disciplined defence. Dave Crocker and Ryan Swiggs for Saltash didn't give Andy Watts or Martin Rickard any space all afternoon.

With the game destined to be a goalless draw Camels were awarded a penalty in the 85th minute, Watts putting Camelford one up. In desperation Saltash threw everyone forward trying to salvage something from the game.

In a goalmouth scramble a Camelford player handled the ball and this time Lee Wakeham scored from the spot for Ashes with the last kick of an entertaining game.
