In a dour physical encounter Saltash were extremely unlucky to come away with nothing, having been in the lead for 80 minutes of the game despite the dismissal of goalkeeper Chris Stacey in the 23rd minute.
Ashes went in front through a great header from Bob Morgan in the 10th minute. Stand-in keeper Jon Pidgen's clearance from the edge of the Ashes box struck Andy Dingle and the ball rebounded over Pidgen and into the net for the equaliser.
Ashes manager Roger Wakeham made tactical changes for the second half and Roche were in all kinds of problems trying to contain a vibrant Ashes midfield with Darren Butcher outstanding. Dean Reynolds put Ashes in front and substitute Darren Jordan added the third.
Andy Dingle with his second goal made the scoreline 3-2 before Paul Trethewey equalised for Roche.
With only minutes remaining the valiant ten men of Ashes had a bitter pill to swallow when Steve Dingle scambled the ball over the line through a crowded goalmouth to net the Roche winner. With two minutes to go Carl Paull was also red carded for the second week running.
