On a difficult pitch in windy conditions joint manager Martin Hodge was just pleased to have left Jury Park with three points. "It was the best of places to go and in fairness they kept at it but the important thing was a win", he said. "We had to play the final 20 minutes with just 10 men following the dismissal of Derek Thompson but we sat deep during this period and kept them out."

Liskeard did though have a couple of break during the final quarter and could so easily have added to their scorre.

Padstow manager Ian Colwill felt his charges deserved a point. "We are proving a hard side to beat but are just lacking that little something when going forward", he said.

All the scoring was completed inside 42 minutes with Liskeard taking a fortunate lead when Steve Panter's clearance was blocked by Adam Nickson. The ball looped over goalie Jimmy Vernon and into the net.

In the 25th minute Padstow were level. 'Chisel' Hawken and Darren Stephens were involved in creating a chance for Martin Murt to score. Both sides were playing well but it was Liskeard who gained what was to prove the all important second goal through inform Neil Mullis.
