Hopes Nanpean had of closing the gap between themelves and leaders floundered at Victoria Bottom on Saturday when the Blues produced a terrific performance and strengthened their hold at the top with this result.
It was Nanpean's first League defeat since Tuesday August 17.
"I have heard said that we can't win against top sides but having beaten St Dennis and now Nanpean in successive weeks I think we can lay that argument ot rest", said Liskeard joint manager Hodge.
"It was a mega performance from the lads and make no mistake this result will have jolted Nanpean's challenge", added the Blues boss. "True they can still draw level with us on points if they win their four games in hand but that a tall order."
Steve Cloke was the midfield kingpin in a superb Liskeard team performance and set the visitors on their winning way with a first half header.
Earlier Nanpean had threatened through Richard Turner, Paul Baron and Damian Dyer who failed to connect with the goal at his mercy.
In heavy second half conditions Nanpean pushed forward more and more and paid the penalty as Liskeard caught them twice in the closing minutes extending their lead through substitute Darren Gilbert who came on with 20 minutes to go and leading marksman Colin Barrett.
