For the first time since October Liskeard have been displaced at the top of the table. They lost top spot to unbeaten St Dennis following the a 2-0 defeat at the hands of neighbours Saltash and Saints 2-1 victory at Wadebridge.
Although Steve Cloke and Dave Cole were called up by the first team Liskeard created enough chances to have clinched the match up by half time. But the home attack faltered after a strong opening and promising approach work was wasted as a result of poor finishing.
Liskeard certainly started positively but thanks to two tremendous saves by Chris Stacey who denied Paul Webber and Lee Maddock Saltash remained on terms. Liskeard continued to dominate but their finishing disappointed and missing chances they failed to kill the game off.
Saltash managed just one attempt on goal when Gregg Baldry fired over. Defensively they stuck to the task in hand with young Ryan Swiggs the pick.
Ashes manager Roger Wakeham ripped into his charges during the break and it paid off as Saltash were a different side in the second half with Lee Grogan heading them in front from Lee Wakeham's cross. Liskeard continued to huff and puff but Stacey dealt comfortably with the scoring attempts which came his way. Gregg Baldry snapped up the visitors second following a long clearance from Stacey.
