In slippy condition due to constant first half rain, Ashes were first to show with Lee Wakeham bringing the best out of Roche keeper Morris.

The home side then had striker Andy Dingle taken to hospital by Air Ambulance with a leg injury. For a spell, Ashes looked the more capable side and a terrific volley from young Matthew Soole put them ahead. Roche, however, equalised with their next attack with evergreen Neil Burnett providing the cross for Richard Ralph to head them on terms.

Ashes faded as the second half wore on and Roche looked the more likely to score as they turned the screw on Ashes' overworked defence. Just as it looked as if a replay was in order, Ralph bagged his second goal in the last minute of the game to put Roche into the Easter Sunday final.
