Saltash were chasing this game from the outset when Darren Fryer and Ade Jeffs combined to set up Martin Rickard for the Camel's opener inside two minutes of play.

Ten minutes later, Ashes' defence was caught flat-footed and without a challenge as Paul Allen jinked his way into the box to place a shot past 'keeper Chris Stacey for the home side's second goal. From this point, Ashes began to compete, playing some good passing football and it was no surprise when Greg Baldry found space on the edge of the penalty box to strike a sweet effort into the net. Camelford then scored a decisive goal on the stroke of half-time with Andy Watts running from deep to score from close range.

The second half was played in torrential rain but neither side managed to score in the difficult conditions underfoot.
