From the confessions of a plant freak to plant-hunting in darkest Manipur, the Cornwall Garden Society’s annual lecture series continues to attract major names

The Cornwall Garden Society’s (CGS) annual lecture series continues in December with two talks by BBC Gardeners’ World presenter, nurseryman and plant-hunter, Nick Macer.

Tree-smitten throughout his childhood and teenage years, Nick now spends his days working among a collection of mostly hard-to-find woody plants that many gardeners would be pleased merely to glimpse.

Nick has recently joined the BBC Gardeners’ World team as its resident expert on tropical plants.

’Things that turn me on: confessions of a plant freak’ will reveal Nick’s lifelong horticultural passions on Tuesday, December 6 at 7.30pm at The Alverton in Truro.

In ’No Whiteys since Kingdon-Ward: plant-hunting in darkest Manipur’, Nick will describe his plant-hunting exploits as practically the first botanist to visit this remote Indian region since the celebrated Frank Kingdon-Ward in the 1940s on Wednesday, December 7 at 2.30pm at The Shire Hall in Bodmin.
