Residents and accommodation providers in a road in Looe have expressed their concerns over work to be carried out over the holiday season.

Shutta Road is set to be closed to traffic from February 2 while a major project to repair a retaining wall is completed.

The work, scheduled to take place in three separate phases, could go on until as late as September, leading to fears from local people over the noise and disruption for visitors to the town.

Shutta Road contains several holiday cottages and bed and breakfast properties.

Looe Town Councillor Armand Toms is encouraging anyone affected to come along to the Guildhall in East Looe today (Monday) from 2 - 6.30pm. Cormac staff will be there to answer questions about the repairs and any concerns.

A spokesperson said: ‘We do understand that this essential work is lengthy and may impact the day to day lives of those living nearby. We will be doing all we can to minimise disruption and to accommodate special requirements, where possible.’
