WITH the extra vehicles using the A387 valley road approach into Looe since the closure of St Martin's Hill for repairs following landslips, some concerns have been expressed about the speed of traffic.

The residents of Sandplace Road say some motorists need reminding that at present there is a 20mph speed limit in place.

They are worried there could be an accident as in some areas there are narrow stretches of road without pavements.

The Cornwall Council temporary speed restriction is to continue until December 31.

The council is hoping to have some access available again into and out of Looe on St Martin's Hill during the school summer holidays.

Meanwhile, there was good news this week that the final clearance of the debris from the huge landslip in Hannafore Road, West Looe, which occurred in December, and the engineering works to make the area safe, have now been completed.

The road leading to and from Hannafore is now back to two lanes.
