Communities in South East Cornwall have been devising ways to bring some Easter fun to children stuck at home.

In Gunnislake, one resident decided that as youngsters wouldn’t be able to do a real-life Easter egg hunt out and about, they’d create a virtual hunt around the village while out on their daily walk.

Meanwhile in Golberdon, volunteers wanted to do something special for the younger members of the community.

’The children in our parish are amazing and we know that keeping to the stay at home, stay safe guidelines is hard for us adults, let alone the children,’ they said.

’The children would usually have just broken up from school and be looking forward to ice creams and day trips, so with this in mind, we had an idea.’

The volunteers approached Tesco in Callington and the supermarket donated enough chocolate eggs for each child, these were labelled with a personal message and delivered to houses along with a leaflet giving important information about local deliveries, and where to get help during the Covid-19 lockdown.
