THE new sporting facilities being built at Callington Community College are set for their official opening in October. The facilities, which consist of a floodlit artificial pitch and a full-sized grass pitch with modern changing pavilion, at a cost of nearly £1million will be completed around September 19. More than 20 teams are already set to use the pitches, including Callington Colts and other local football clubs. Callington town councillor and vice-chairman of Callington Town Football Club, Andrew Long, praised the scheme at this week's council meeting saying that not only would the facilities provide a boost for sport in the town, but also free up more space in sports halls for other activities to take place.
