Callywith College in Bodmin will hold its next virtual open event on Saturday (February 27), from 10am-1pm, offering visitors the opportunity to chat live to lecturers while they tour and explore everything the college has to offer online.
Following the success of the College’s very first virtual open events held in November and January, which saw over 800 people visit Callywith online, College staff are preparing for another busy event.
Ofsted Outstanding Callywith College typically welcomes hundreds of visitors to its Open Events throughout the year. The virtual event will provide prospective students and their families with the opportunity to chat to lecturers and support staff live in online chat rooms, tour the campuses virtually and explore the outstanding facilities and courses on offer.
The event will be live on the College website from 10am-1pm and accessed by visiting www.callywith.ac.uk.
Just like a traditional open event, the College’s Ofsted Outstanding lecturers and support staff will be available live throughout the event in online chat rooms. Visitors will drop into these rooms to meet staff and ask any queries or find out more about applications, transport, student support and much more.
Visitors will fly in and out of the College’s art studios, science labs and sports facilities as they tour the College buildings through new state-of-the-art fully interactive 3D virtual tours, giving an insight into what learning and life as a student is like at Callywith College.
Specially created ‘Subject Spotlight’ videos from teaching staff will provide visitors with all the information they need to learn about the wide range of A Levels and Diploma courses on offer. As well as watching the videos, visitors will be able to read in-depth course guides, compare their options and even apply on the day.
Callywith Principal Jon Grey said: “Welcoming prospective students onto our campus is usually one of the most enjoyable events in the college calendar. Given the current restrictions, we have worked incredibly hard to showcase our outstanding staff, world-class facilities, and exceptional student experience online.
“Please join us and tour the campus, view our bespoke video content and chat live with teaching and support staff. We can’t wait to introduce you to our outstanding college and staff.”
The College have recently announced that, due to demand from prospective students, they have expanded their offer of the widest choice of A Levels and Level 2 and 3 vocational courses in North and East Cornwall by adding six new courses to its outstanding provision for September 2021. Students will be able to find out more and apply for the new courses during the event.
The open event comes after another very successful year that saw the college rated Outstanding in all categories by Ofsted in January 2020, ranked as the top sixth-form college nationally for qualification achievement rate and topping local league tables for A Level results in Spring 2020.
Whilst demand for spaces at the College is high, applications remain open for September 2021. To find out more and apply online, visit at www.callywith.ac.uk
