A LISKEARD man has raised money for charity by taking part in a cycling marathon. Colin Richardson, who lives in Tremar, was among 25 people from across the country to take part in the adventure, cycling from Land's End to John o'Groats. The cyclists covered around 70 miles a day and camped overnight. The 1,070-mile trip is the equivalent of climbing Mount Everest three times. Colin raised £330 from the event which will go to Vitalise at Churchtown, Lanlivery, a charity that provides breaks for almost 8,000 disabled people and their carers every year. Colin said: 'The scenery was breathtaking in places and the hills challenging at times! I visited parts of the British countryside which I never knew were there before. 'It was a fantastic experience and I met some amazing people who I will keep in contact with. 'I am going to do a similar challenge next year, maybe across France, the weather might be kinder to us we hope!' Mick Ryan, new regional fundraiser at Vitalise, said: 'We are very grateful for the donation from Colin. 'His incredible achievement coupled with the generosity in considering us for the funds he raised is so very much appreciated by all staff and guests here at Churchtown. The centre does rely on support of the local community which goes towards helping disabled people and carers enjoy their much-needed breaks.'
