A group of environmentalists set off on their ’Earth March’ from Land’s End today - the first day of a five week walk to London to raise awareness of climate emergency.

Their departure was due to be marked by songs and music by members of the Cornwall Extinction Rebellion choir.

En route they will be joining the Youth Strike 4 Climate event in Truro on Friday, March 15 and will use the opportunity to hold public talks about the climate crisis, along with training in nonviolent direct action, legal rights, public speaking, banner-making and more.

1,000 people are expected to join Earth March from points across the country converging on London in time for April 15 when International Rebellion begins
