THE 2018 Mount Edgcumbe Classic and American Car Show and Summer Fayre will take place tomorrow (Sunday, August 5)..
The event, which is now in its 23rd year, will star more than 700 vehicles (including a special display of Lotus cars celebrating the marque’s 70th anniversary), 150 trade stands and entertainment for the family.
Neil Rugg, treasurer of the Friends of Mount Edgcumbe Country Park, said: ‘Over the years this event has been running it has provided a valuable source of income for both our group and Cornwall Hospice Care and this has been used to the benefit of a wide community.
‘We are able to provide new amenities, such as gardens, equipment, buggies and children’s play areas and to fund the restoration of historic artefacts thanks to this annual event.’
Cornwall Hospice Care meanwhile, has been able to use their share of the proceeds to fund their 24/7 advice line for other health care professionals for more than a month each year.
This line is operated by senior medical staff and consultants and provides support for professionals across Cornwall who are caring for terminally ill people and their carers, family and friends.
Jane Appleton is a community fund-raiser for Cornwall Hospice Care: ‘Those who attend this annual event at Mount Edgcumbe Country Park should be very proud of what they are helping us all to achieve.
‘It’s a great day out but there’s the added feel good factor knowing that the money raised is helping us all to make a difference right here in Cornwall.’
