Saltash’s Longstone Park will be welcoming the return of Circus Starr today (May 31), for two performances. The company’s relaxed big top shows are performed free of charge for families with children with different needs or who are from low-income families. A community interest company (CIC), Circus Starr was founded 29 years ago and donates all of its profits to registered charities. It aims to provide a welcoming atmosphere for children who look different or find it difficult to sit and concentrate. This year’s show is ‘full of Eastern promise’, with a line-up of internationally-acclaimed circus talent ranging from clowns to a breathtaking balancing act, all performing under Circus Starr’s bright blue and yellow big top. All the free tickets are supported by local businesses in each location on the circus’s tours, and every show also benefits one of Circus Starr’s nominated charities, which this year are Children’s Hospice South West, the Donna Louise Hospice and the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity. Today’s performances at Longstone Park will begin at 4.45pm and 7pm and last for approximately one and a half hours, including a 15-minute interval.
