A scheme to update Liskeard’s parish church is almost two-thirds of the way towards its fund-raising target.

A re-ordering of the interior at St Martin’s Church will see the central pews removed to make the space more flexible for events.

A refurbishment costing around £462,000 is planned which will include a new heating system and a new kitchen.

The heating system failed last winter and services were held in the church hall in the colder months.

Now, thanks to fund-raising and donations, the renovations appeal has reached almost £300,000.
