Hundreds flocked to Liskeard for the Christmas lights switch-on on Saturday night following a day of festive activities which brought people out into the cold to enjoy themselves.
Events got under way when Santa opened his grotto on Bay Tree Hill and throughout the day there was musical entertainment by performers, including Liskeard Silver Band and East Cornwall Bach Choir. There was face painting, fairground rides and a roast chestnut stall with the highlight of the day being the lantern procession late in the afternoon.
People had been working on their lanterns for months and the bright, colourful creations filled The Parade with light.
After the procession the Christmas lights, organised by Liskeard Chamber of Commerce, were switched on by retiring town clerk Brenda Furse, followed by a fireworks display.
