The annual meeting of Saltash Male Voice Choir was held on March 13, with 24 members present.
Chairman Frank Magill said the choir had concluded another successful year, but had not presented as many concerts as previously.
The highlights had been the concert at Saltash Wesley with the Torpoint Ladies' Choir and the Christmas concert at St Nicholas and St Faith church.
Secretary David Griffiths said the choir looked forward to joining other Cornish choirs at the Royal Albert Hall on October 14 for a Millennium concert of celebration.
Musical director David Lodge emphasised that the choir had obtained a first class honours mark at the recent Saltash music festival.
He aimed to forge links with other local choirs and work more closely with the Saltash Town Band. He also suggested making a CD in the near future. Treasurer Dick Willcocks distributed a statement which showed a satisfactory balance, and concert secretary Jeffery Grylls reported a reasonable flow of concert bookings which will take the choir to venues throughout Devon and Cornwall.
Officers and committee elected were as follows: president Mona Tomaszewksa, chairman Frank Magill, vice-chairman Bob Papworth, secretary David Griffiths, treasurer John Creber, musical director David Lodge, deputy musical director Paul Shelton, accompanist Liz Donnelly, librarian Alan Easterbrook, public and press liaison officers Bill Ryan and John Drew, concert secretary John Grylls and choir marshall Alan Easterbrook. Section representatives - lst tenor Bob Papworth, 2nd tenor Jim Norman, baritone Vince Wilson and bass Gerald Pote.
