A chef has truly been acting the part during filming in Cornwall.

Debbie Thorpe, from Torpoint, was on set in the St Mawes area for a German TV adaptation of Rosamund Pilcher’s short story ‘A Day Like Spring.’

Playing the part of a cook at a school for young nannies, Debbie was filmed explaining how to use the correct knife to peel an apple - and how to make an apple pie.

‘I only filmed for three days but it was great to be on set,’ said Debbie.

‘It was a great experience and I loved the outfits. The cast were extremely friendly and greeted us upon our arrival on scene.’

In her every-day life, Debbie has her own business, Kcal Foods, as well as being an ambassador for Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution and running workshops in schools and community centres.

She is an old hand at being an extra, having appeared in the BBC series ‘Delicious’, also as a chef, alongside Dawn French and Emilia Fox.

Debbie has found her roles through Take One Castings, who are based in Liskeard.
