A fanfare reception from the Royal Marines Band welcomed intrepid charity walker Commander Jane Allen to HMS Raleigh.

The retired Royal Naval Reservist is nearing the end of her epic solo anti-clockwise walk around the coastline of mainland Britain – a distance of 5,500 miles.

Jane, 60, has called her challenge the ‘Victory Walk’ as she started from Admiral Nelson’s Flagship, HMS Victory, in Portsmouth on 21 October 2017.

She took a break from her route to visit HMS Raleigh in Torpoint where she met with staff and recruits to tell them of her adventures and the charities she is supporting - the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity and the Women’s Royal Naval Service (WRNS) Benevolent Trust.
