ON Monday, Churches Together in Torpoint held a Harvest Lunch, to help fund the work of Christian Aid in countries of hardship. The simple lunch of soup, bread, cheese and biscuits, and optional deserts were very popular, with more than 40 people attending. The event which was organised by Diana Reynolds, Margaret Sellick, Bernice Giles, Veronica Bright, June Smalldon and Catherine Lund, was a great success raising £172.30 for the charity. A Trade Craft stall also raised £180. There will be a united service in St James' Church on Sunday, October 31, with all denominations taking part, in aid of the Bible Society. St James' Church will be holding an Autumn Bazaar on Saturday, November 6, between 2pm to 4pm. Stalls will include toys, bric-a-brac, pickles and preserves, books, and refreshments, all in aid of St James' Church Funds.
