THE Liskeard branch of Save the Children's annual dinner raised £1,900. A group of 73 people enjoyed a seven-course meal at Webb's Inn which was interspersed by a raffle and auction lead by Brian Shears, chairman of The Best of Bodmin Moor. Among the raffle/auction prizes donated by local businesses was a 9ct gold bracelet, donated by Michael Spires jewellers of Plymouth, which raised £175. Trish Brock-Morgan, of the charity's Liskeard branch, said: 'This is an amazing sum to be raised in an evening. 'The people of South East Cornwall should be proud to know that they played a major role in achieving this fantastic result. 'The money raised will make a difference to the lives of vulnerable children in the UK and around the world.'
