AN anniversary service marking 113 years of worship was celebrated at Polperro Chapel.

Leading the service was the Rev Andrew Hill, who will be retiring at the end of July, while in the congregation was Beth Butters, who, as the oldest member of the chapel, has attended for almost 88 years.

‘It was a bitter-sweet occasion as it was Rev Andrew’s penultimate service at Polperro,’ said a chapel spokesperson.

‘Mr Hill was thanked for all the work he has done over the past five years, in particular when a gale blew water through the roof and the chapel was unusable for many months. We will miss him.’
