With regard to Mr Neil Hansen's letter - 'Queens speech must ban hunting', CT 15/10/99.

Mr Hansen has the utter gall to accuse me of arrogance, when at the same time, doing his utmost to bring about changes to my way of life that has for generations (not simply 17 years) been the tried, tested and accepted manner in the countryside.

Can I suggest that the imposition of Mr Hansen's opinions (and those like minded) on country dwellers, whose lives are totally foreign; most often a complete mystery to towns people, is arrogance to the nth degree.

if I were to do my best to change his way of life - there are so many aspects of town life that need serious consideration - then he'd certainly be within his rights to label me arrogant.

As it is, I'd much prefer that if he doesn't interfere with my life, I promise I won't interfere with his!

ROY WILLIAMS.
