THE junior section of Torpoint Mosquito Sailing Club will be able to update some of their safety equipment thanks to £100 from the 1730 Club. Kevin Crane of the sailing club said: 'The 1730 club has been very generous to us over the last few years and this has helped maintain our standard of safety.' The club has more then thirty youngsters who receive training every Wednesday in club boats or their own. By encouragement and training some of them go on to race for the club. Deputy Mayor Diane Curran joined with 1730 club members at the Wheelers on Friday to hand over the £100. 'The 1730 club raise money for the youth of Torpoint,' she said. 'They have done this for ten years. It is well supported by local people and they do some fabulous fundraising. 'I am pleased to be involved in it.'
