Callington Town 0 Falmouth Town 8

This was certainly a day Callington Town will want to forget as their premier team produced one of the most inept and passionless performances ever seen by a team wearing the Red and Black since the team was created in 1989. The thoughts of those within the Town structure were echoed by Callington chairman Andrew Long, who said: 'We all know that sometimes we can come out on the wrong end of bad scorelines, but it was the total lack of passion, discipline or collective spirit which saddened all those who watched this game. 'Stuart Henderson and Gavin West have worked hard to keep Carlsberg football here in Callington and the players let them down with this performance.' From the moment the visitors took a fourth minute lead, it was clear to the small band of faithful Callington supporters that this was going to be a pre-Christmas stuffing. Within 10 minutes Falmouth were 3-0 ahead and the game was over as a contest. By half time it was 5-0 and the home side were down to 10 men after Micheal Small was red-carded for violent conduct after getting into a fight near the visitors dugout. The only surprise about this was the fact that the Falmouth player involved received no punishment. Few Callington players seemed to be interested in the game and one of them, Adam Bartlett, was substituted at half time. Martin Piper in the Callington goal kept the visitors limited to a mere three goals in the second period with a series of fine saves. In the end Falmouth had to settle for eight goals, which came from Paul Wolstencroft (3), Rob Troon (2), Jake Ash, Darren Burchell and Jai Crocker. For the home side, the players were left in no doubt that unless a major change in attitudes occurs, big changes will be made.

Callington Town's managerial team of Stuart Henderson and Gavin West have moved swiftly to strengthen their side after dispensing with the services of several of their squad after last Saturday humiliating defeat at home to Falmouth Town. If the 8-0 scoreline was not embarrassment enough then the attitude and performance of some of the players was nothing less than discraceful. Henderson openly condemned the disgraceful scenes, issuing the following statement: 'The performance of certain players was simply not acceptable and as a result they will not play for the club again. 'I think certain individuals don't realise the hard work of volunteers who give up there own time for the club and then we repay them with a performance like that. 'It was completely unprofessional, undisciplined and well below the standards that need to be met in order to play for this club. 'It was certainly a miserable weekend. The only consolation was that we had the opportunity to go to St Blazey on Wednesday and put on a decent display for our supporters and everyone else. 'I am expecting a display which is full of character, pride and showing a commitment to the cause. 'If players can't or aren't willing to meet the standards set to play for this club then they'd do better to find something else to do on Saturday afternoons. 'We have taken on managing this club and are under no illusions that it is a big task but we are determined to perform as best as we can within the limited resources at our disposal.' Henderson has the support of Callington chairman Andrew Long who said: 'I am in 100 per cent agreement with Stuart's comments. 'He has worked incredibly hard to keep Carlsberg South Western League football in Callington.'
