LAST July I was told I had breast cancer and would have to have a mastectomy. I received my care at the Primrose Breast Care Centre at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth.

Although it was very hard for myself and my family, the staff were so helpful and caring. They supported both myself and my family all the way through my mastectomy and after care.

They took time to phone me at home to see how we were all coping. Then, because my cancer was hormone receptive, I had to have a course of chemotherapy which was very hard to deal with.

I lost all my hair and had a lot of other side-effects. The chemo nurses and my oncologist were both fantastic.

They told me about the Mustard Tree centre at the hospital, which is a place where, instead of sitting in the waiting room, you can go and relax, have a coffee and get support with a number of things, like help with benefit advice and also different therapies to aid recovery.

There is always someone there to listen to any worries you may have. I don't think I would have been able to cope without their support. I am now having Herseptin treatment, which is every three weeks for the next year.

I would like to raise some funds so these wonderful people can carry on the work that they do in helping people affected by cancer.

So I am asking the kind people of Liskeard, many of whom have also supported me, to donate any saleable goods which would enable me to hold a sale which can raise funds.

I am unable to take large items as I have no transport or anywhere to store them and I am disabled. I hope to raise as much money as possible, please contact me on 07890 359460.

I would also be willing to support anyone who is going through cancer.
