OUTDOOR activities designed to improve wellbeing and help people connect to nature will be offered during a taster day at Caradon Woods.

The Wellbeing in Nature Day is being hosted by Cornish mental health charity Pentreath together with Green Wood Music and is open to anyone over the age of 18 who’s not in paid work.

Caradon Woods is a peaceful 40-acre site set on the banks of the River Lynher between Liskeard and Launceston.

Anyone who comes along to the free event on Wednesday April 20 (10am – 4pm) will also be able to sign up, if they wish, to a further five Wellbeing in Nature sessions.

These are delivered as part of the Pluss Positive People programme, and include:

- regular one-to-one support from a Change Coach to help a person move toward their goals at their own pace

- support around building confidence, managing stress, and building assertiveness

- funding where appropriate to help a person reach their work or education goals

Charity Pentreath has been working in Cornwall for over 30 years to help people achieve their personal goals of Education, Training and Employment.

“We offer one-to-one support and we meet people in the community at a venue where everyone feels comfortable” said a spokesperson for Pentreath.

“We are proud to say we are part of the Pluss Positive People programme. This offers a lifeline to people who are not in work to help them build confidence, skills and give them a sense of hope in the future. “The programme is person centred and can involve connecting with community activities, health and wellbeing support, and help to access training and employment.”

The team at Pentreath has a great network of support from other partner organisations that they can call upon, and this enables them to help people in many different situations.

“We help people to break down the barriers that are holding them back and enable them to move forward with their personal goals.

“We would love people to come along to the Wellbeing in Nature taster day, enjoy the scenery, benefit from the beautiful countryside whilst having the opportunity to engage with our Positive People staff and ask any questions they may have about how the project may help them.”
