A 12 week course divided into 6 week terms - Autumn and Spring - using, as a starting point, favourite items which have been passed down through the generations or simply acquired at car boot sales. This course will explore the social and historical significance of objects brought in by class members. 'Granny's old tea-pot' will become living history, not just an asset, and the monetary value of any item will be of less importance than what it tells us about the time in which it was made. An appreciation of architecture and other related arts will also be included to help provide an overall historical picture. Some outside visits to museums and interesting local buildings may also be arranged.
